Hi, I’m Saima Husain. I wear many hats; organizational consultant, organizer, facilitator, somatics teacher, trainer, mother.

I have been committed to changing the world for as long as I can remember.

I believe in strategizing with others to identify and eliminate systemic barriers and build scaleable alternatives so people and communities can thrive.

I have been in the social justice movement for the past 20 years in a variety of capacities from direct services, organizing, and facilitation to research, writing, and fundraising. My work has primarily been in the intersecting areas of gender, sexuality, race, class, and immigration.. I have over 15 years of project and people management experience in academia and the nonprofit sector, the past 10 years in senior leadership positions at a California-based nonprofits.

I also have 11 years of experience studying and practicing politicized somatics, a embodied leadership and change methodology, supporting individuals, groups, and organizations to align their actions with their values for the sake of our movements.

I’ve worked with non-profits, international unions, county health boards, movement organizations, and training cohorts.

I am a warm, curious leader, strategic thinker and problem solver, experienced in program and budget development, human resources, community organizing, communications, non-profit management and research.

Over the past few years, I’ve facilitated organizational retreats weaving together organizational development, capacity building, and embodied leadership, held healing spaces for organizers, offered one-on-one coaching for members and staff, and supported organizations to develop job descriptions, work plans, communications plans, and new websites.

If this sounds interesting and in alignment, reach out, to co-create and dream up workshops, retreat curricula, or training sessions for your group or organization.
